What is a firewall?
A firewall is a network security filter for data entering or leaving a network and prevents unauthorized people getting access to the network from the Internet. All messages entering or leaving the network pass through the firewall, which examines each message and blocks those that do not meet the user specified security criteria. A firewall establishes a barrier between the business network and the Internet, and determines if a data packed should be allowed or blocked based on a set of programmed security rules.
